![]() Intact, but not settled.Īnother possibility is that some of Melanchion's servants traveled to those lands, found the fort abandoned and decided to settle it. It is also highly possible that the Fort is still abandoned and stands there- tall, but not proud. It is unknown if anyone ever settled it again, but it is possible that some ambitious Avernites (or Empire tourists) managed to take over it and establish a new community. It turns out that the Darkside Loyalists are residing in the fort, having possibly wiped out its former residents.Īfter the defeat of the Darkside Loyalists, Fort Avernum was abandoned. The party could only enter by talking to Wetzel in Silvar and getting his key ( Wetzel's Key). In Avernum 6 it was abandoned by the Avernites once again and settled by a suspicious band of people. Except for all of this, Fort Avernum was important, because it was the location with a new portal to teleport authorized Avernites to the Pylons throughout Avernum (Assuming that the Pylons have been activated before using them). Adventurers needed to talk to Ayrie to go in. In Avernum 4, it was restored by a group of ambitious Avernites, led by Captain Nathan. It cannot be entered and displays a message the first time when The Party tries to enter it. It housed some Cotra refugees and guards. In Avernum 2 and its remake Crystal Souls, years after the death of Emperor Hawthorne, it lies there, a hollow shell of its former, glorious self. Fort Avernum is no longer useful, since its only purpose (Guarding the Portal that teleports new misfits into the lands of Avernum) is gone, due to the deactivation of Avernum's only source of new residents. After the deaths of his fellow Bandits and his cunning escape, the underground is once again claimed by the residents of the Fort, enabling safe passage for all the new arrivals without the risk of getting immediately slain by Bandits.Īfter the assassination of Emperor Hawthorne, the Empire closes the portal at both ends and misfits are no longer sent to Avernum. Avernum 6 location of meryhew series#In the remake Escape from The Pit, the portal sends new arrivals to a small series of caves to the fort, which have been taken over by Lagran the Bandit. In Avernum 1, it was the town where the first party arrives when after getting sent through the Portal. ![]() However, due to most of Avernum's citizens fleeing to the Surface, it is highly unlikely for the latter to actually happen. It is assumed that the Portal was never repaired by anyone, though it is not impossible for the situation to he otherwise. Having lost its purpose once again, the place is abandoned by both allies, enemies, as well as other pests. After their defeat, as well as the defeat of the Loyalists above, the Fort becomes an eerie place. The newest version of Avernum 6 HD for the iPad is v1.0. Avernum 6 will now run on case-sensitive hard drives. The game should run faster and be more stable. Avernum 6 location of meryhew code#As for the Portal itself, by the time a band of adventurers reaches it, it has already attracted a few demonic creatures. Updates Avernum 6 to a new engine and a newer version of Apple's Macintosh code base. Sadly, the Portal's important purpose is lost when it malfunctions and the residents of the Fort are forced to flee, leaving the place an open target for the Darkside Loyalists, as well as a few minor pests. ![]() The mages work hard on a Portal which becomes the purpose why the Fort is still standing. During that time, the fort is finally settled by Avernites, as well as one of its former residents- Tor. Soldiers do not feel the need to guard it, bandits do not see it as a profitable land and merchants think that it is too unappealing for trade.įort Avernum flourishes once again during the events of Avernum 4, a few years after the Avernites and the Empire make a truce, enabling them to enter the Empire once again. It simply sits there as an uninhabited Fort, waiting to be settled by foolhardy and desperate souls who wish to make it flourish again (Or simply hide in it).įor years, the Fort sits there, an unimportant location. From there, they are escorted and sent on their way, hopefully to become productive citizens of the lands.Īfter the deactivation of the Portal, Fort Avernum becomes an unimportant and useless location. Also, although I am not exactly sure how, I would expect that Avadon includes some design improvements based on things Spiderweb learned from Avernum 6.Fort Avernum is unarguably one of the most important locations, holding the Portal which sends new misfits within the lands of Avernum. I like the wider character and party build options in Avernum 6 a lot more, but the the skills don't seem quite as interesting as Avadons. I heard that the plot is really good-one of its strengths-but the demo doesn't really go far enough to show anything beyond a typical RPG beginning. only it has less classes and only one skill tree per class. In contrast with the previous Spiderweb RPGs, it seems to have taken a page out Diablo 2's book and forced you into a picking a single character with a skill tree to pick from. ![]() Short version: For my first Spiderweb game, should I get Avadon or Avernum 6? ![]()
